Life Lately at Spruce

It's hard to believe it's been this long since we've sat down to write a blog post.

If you've been by Spruce lately, you probably know why.

The shop has been busier than ever, our calendar has been packed with club meetings and private events, and somehow we're already halfway through another year. Between serving coffee, hosting celebrations, planning events, growing our team, and dreaming up what's next, we've had our hands full—in the best way.

The Café Keeps Growing

One of the biggest blessings this year has simply been seeing more of you walk through our doors.

Whether you're stopping in for your morning coffee, meeting a friend, spending the afternoon working, or joining one of our many community groups, thank you for choosing Spruce. Seeing familiar faces become regulars—and watching strangers become friends around our tables—is exactly what we hoped this place could become.

Private events have been keeping us busy too. From baby showers and birthday parties to book clubs, business gatherings, and celebrations of all kinds, it's such an honor to be trusted with so many special moments. We love seeing the shop transform for each event while still feeling like home.

Summer at Spruce

Summer also means a new seasonal menu, and this year's theme is Camp Spruce. We've had so much fun bringing a little nostalgia to the café with drinks like Cabin Breakfast, Ghost Stories, Trail Mix, Bug Juice, Miss Americana, and our Dragon Fruit + Mango Jam Matcha in collaboration with Marry Me Jam. If you haven't stopped in to try the menu yet, we'd love to hear which one becomes your favorite.

Now we're counting down to one of our favorite nights of the year—our annual Midsummer Market.

Last year we hosted 12 incredible vendors. This year, we received more than 130 applications from local artists, makers, bakers, growers, and small businesses. We were honestly blown away by the response. As much as we'd love to include everyone, we've carefully curated this year's lineup to create a fun and balanced shopping experience.

Join us Saturday, July 18, from 7–10 PM for an evening of shopping local, live music, seasonal drinks, and a little midsummer magic. It's shaping up to be our biggest market yet, and we can't wait to share it with all of you.

A Few Changes Around the Shop

If you've spent time on the patio recently, you've probably noticed our new sun shades. They've made a huge difference in keeping the space comfortable during these hot Florida afternoons.

Inside, we finally upgraded our bakery case, and we're so excited to have a better way to showcase all of the incredible pastries we bring in each week.

We've also welcomed several new team members to the Spruce crew. As we've grown busier, we've been grateful to add people who genuinely care about hospitality and helping create the welcoming environment we strive for every day.

A Personal Update

And finally, a little personal news.

Our family is growing, too! We're expecting Baby Vera #2 this December, and we're so excited. Flora is getting ready for her new role as big sister, and while balancing pregnancy, motherhood, and running a small business has definitely been an adventure, I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Thank you for supporting not only this little coffee shop, but our family as well. It means more than you know.

Looking Ahead

As busy as this season has been, we're incredibly grateful for it. Every cup of coffee, every event booked, every market application, every familiar face, and every conversation reminds us why I opened Spruce in the first place.

Thank you for continuing to make this little corner of Murray Hill such a special place. We have lots of exciting things planned for the rest of the year, and we can't wait to share them with you.
